Abstract
In the future the cooperation of German health insurance companies with the pharmaceutical industry will become a major topic. This is forced not only by scarce resources in the health service, but also by an overall tendency towards cooperation between different elements of the German health service. Thinking of possible fields of collaboration between insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies, immediately pharmacoeconomic research comes to mind. While today in other countries, such as Australia, the repayability of prescription drugs already depends on the proof of its effectiveness and efficiency in pharmacoeconomic studies, in Germany pharmacoeconomic methods can only be used on a voluntary base. Relationship marketing could open up new vistas here.
