The Institute for Entrepreneurship is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurial thinking and action. It offers practice-oriented education, applied research, and support for start-ups as well as established companies.
Through interdisciplinary approaches, innovative business ideas are generated, implemented, and further developed, while at the same time preparing future leaders for roles in an ever-changing environment. The Institute places particular emphasis on the impact of digital transformation and technological disruption on businesses and society. It works closely with industry partners, entrepreneurs, other educational institutions, and incubator programs to create a dynamic network that supports the creation and growth of enterprises.
The Institute of Entrepreneurship offers two bachelor’s degree programs: “Business Administration and Digital Management” (taught in German) and “Start-Up Management” (taught in English). While the “Business Administration and Digital Management” program has a long tradition at IMC Krems and is considered one of its flagship programs, “Start-Up Management” is a newly introduced program with a strong focus on innovative business ideas and models.
The Institute for Entrepreneurship is characterized by a diverse research profile covering several forward-looking topics. A central focus lies on digital transformation and technological disruption, examining how emerging technologies—such as artificial intelligence, digital platforms, and new financing models—are reshaping business models and what strategies companies can adopt to successfully adapt.
Another key area is Human Experience and Value Creation. Here, the Institute analyzes how user-centered approaches, customer experience, and consumer behavior contribute to the development of successful products, services, and business models.
Furthermore, the Institute explores how entrepreneurship can contribute to reducing inequalities in business and society. Key topics include equal opportunities, integration, education, and overcoming digital divides.
In addition, existing research areas such as coworking spaces are examined with regard to their impact on productivity, collaboration, and innovation. Consumer research also contributes to a deeper understanding of markets and decision-making behavior.
Finally, the Institute places strong emphasis on Entrepreneurial Education by developing and evaluating innovative teaching and learning methods to optimally prepare future entrepreneurs for their roles.
