Project Details

Description

It is predicted that there will be a shortage of around 75,500 nurses in Austria by 2030 (Gesundheit Österreich, 2019). In conjunction with the fact that we are an aging society, this may lead to a collapse of the care system from today's perspective. Even before the Covid 19 crisis, nurses were burned out within a few years of their careers and a high percentage left the profession in search of alternative career paths (Hasselhorn et al. 2003). The current challenge is to develop low-threshold training and support tools (toolkit) for targeted psychological strengthening of nurses in their daily work. The aim is to provide nurses with a toolkit that they can use to actively empower themselves to cope with and manage their stress and frustration. This should enable nurses to remain in the profession as long as possible, so that the high level of practical knowledge of experienced nurses is not lost and the attractiveness of health care and nursing is promoted by maintaining and promoting empathy.
