Description
Digitalization, artificial intelligence, sustainability and a shortage of skilled workers are all relevant trends in the Austrian and international tourism industry that are currently dominating media coverage. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been on everyone's lips since ChatGPT at the latest. There are already opportunities to use existing AI programs as tools to simplify work processes, use working time more efficiently and optimize the quality of results. AI-based tools are already being used for practical applications in many industrial and commercial sectors, giving rise to new business models. However, employees and private individuals are also increasingly using these applications, often without realizing that AI models are behind these applications. The potential opportunities and benefits of this technology are already tangible and relevant in the hotel and catering industry in particular, but only a few businesses are aware of them.
IMC Krems and Gastrosterne have set themselves the goal of establishing a qualification network that provides innovative hotel and catering businesses with the necessary skills to use artificial intelligence today and go beyond the common use of ChatGPT. As part of an Austria-wide pilot project, the project offers further training courses for participating tourism businesses that want to provide their employees with up-to-date knowledge on the application of AI in everyday working life. Divided into four course modules, participants are given a basic understanding of AI and its potential for the tourism industry, while also learning how to use these new technologies “hands on” in the company depending on the situation.
